Trained First Responders in your community

Community First Responders (CFR) give life-saving aid to patients in their community who dial 999 or 111. Community First Responders are not employees of East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), all CFRs are volunteers who undertake training to be able to help the people in the community with the support of EMAS frontline services.

Your role as a

First Responder

Community First Responders are now playing a vital role in the emergency care. They are just ordinary members of the public who have been trained by the ambulance service to deliver life-saving skills in their local areas pending the arrival of an ambulance.

Prior to becoming a Community First Responder, training and equipment allocation, prospective responders have to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) which is carried out by the East Midlands Ambulance Service.
